Logo Blunder

I just finished making my second hollow wood surfboard and i made a HUGE BLUNDER I printed my logo on rice paper and put it under the cloth backwards. What an IDIOT! The glassing came out well except that the logo is backwards. I used resin research epoxy and 4 oz cloth. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

get a mirror

it will read easier.

this is the dyslexic model.

the indian gods are pleased,

a too perfect hand crafted object

draws the scorn of the gods.

you must tell everybody

this was intentional

by no maens repeat this blunder story

the story goes

you had to do somthing wrong

so this was the best you could do.

of course without compromising

the integrity of the board.

print this answer

and practice delivery

till you get it down.

…ambrose…

oh yeah keep a straight face…

that was gonna be my suggestion. after you hotcoat, write underneath something to the effect of “logo best viewed with mirror”. and keeping a straight face during any future logo discussion is an absolute necessity.

Well it might be good to know where the logo is located. If it’s located right near the edge of the rail all I can think of doing is painting a large pinline over it and then reapplying your logo the right way before you hotcoat. Other than that there’s not to much you can do. But I agree with ambrose make it appear intentional.

…sand it down

then put a new logo, then lam again, hot coat, sand, etc

Sheesh - you’re making your second hollow and that’s the worst thing you’ve done? Don’t sweat it. You got it all over me.

Ambrose ( as usual) has the right of it -

Or, as Pee Wee Herman said, " I meant to do that"

So, how to deal with this little problem. You’re never gonna get the original out without major destruction. So, time to get cute and add something more on top of what’s there.

A couple of things jump to mind;

And there’s lots more options than that, this is just my quick and far from creative shot at it. If you have access to photoshop or my personal favorite, Corel Draw, there’s a scary amount of options you have.

I’d put this under, say, a deck patch or something, it even gives a nice depth effect betwixt the one layer of glass and another.

hope that’s of use

doc…

I’ve done that one myself. Just have a few beers and everything will look just fine.

Don’t feel bad, just leave it… what the heck, it happens.

I had this board laminated and hot coated and never even noticed the label was backward. Someone asked ‘how come the label is backwards?’ when they saw it in shop after I had been handling the thing for like 3 days. Talk about dyslexic…

A close look at the label.

Everyone that saw it thought it was cool like that. When it was done it sold in 2 days even with the backwards label.

D.R.

I actually really like Doc’s suggestion.

Personally I’d do any of the above; leave it, not the end of the world; “best viewed with mirror” makes it look like it was meant to be that way; “I meant to do that” blatant admission you didn’t but makes light of it.

I like them all myself.

Think of the “blue mauritius” and other false-print-stamps and do not dare to touch it!!!

All you have to do is to copy your board a heck load of times and you will be a rich man. The hobby board-collectors will do about everything to get the board, including killing you, if you destroy the most valuable part, the “ozwolfe mirroracle falseprint”

I was so bumbed out about putting the logo on backwards. But after reading your posts i’ve decided i am going to leave it. You guys made me laugh so much. After all the board is only for me anyways. thanks

Nothing like a good belly laugh to make you realise it ain’t so bad after all eh?

Nice looking board btw.

When your boards are hugely famous that one with the backwards label will be the hottest collectors item

the tear rolling down the cheek of the fronteir

psychologist was best appreciated by the lakota shaman

as the well adjusted pioneer walked off into the sunset

the red dust phoofthing from his boot heels

and the wood shavings drifting slowly to the ground

from his stetson hat, cocked ever-so slightly

off to the right, the lights of the saloon

were slowly taking over for the fading day.

inward, looking out, it’s perfect. Then Navajo way.

The answer is …

Wax

and lots of it

Lets see a pic

Tell them its an original fraudulent copy, indistinguishable from the real thing, save for the logo… just like 53 Krugerrand note with images of Frank Bruno and Richard Richard…

ROFL!!

Classic…

I’d keep it for myself…
