Logo Paper

I have been using some rice paper I found online for my logos and printing them using an inkjet printer.  The paper I am using is pretty pourous and the logos come out pretty "light" looking.  How do the production shops get such vivid logos - are they screen printed?? and where can I find good logo paper?  Thanks guys....

Steve

I use  white  wrap paper that I scotch tape on a 8by 11 inches sheet and it works fine !

they are screen printed. you can paint the back white though for more vivid colors or if you are doing it on a colored background. won't be like a screen printed one though

Howzit steve, By light do youmean the colors look kind of faded, if so check your printer setting and you may have it set for economy print which will make the ink look lighter than normal. I did thousands and that was one problem I never had. Aloha,Kokua

Hey Kokua,

Yeah, I do mean the colors look faded.  I was getting logo paper from greenlight surf supply and the logos turned out pretty nice looking.  I ordered a roll of rice paper (can't remember where I ordered it) and this paper is much more pourous ex. when I remove it from the printer paper after printing - there is a lot of ink on the backer paper (wasn't the case with greenlight's paper).  Guess my question is where is a good place to order logo paper and what type/weight, etc. should I get??  Thanks....

Howzit steve, I used to use a rice paper that was kind of thick, then oneula turned me on to some great thin rice pper that he bought at one of those dollar stores for a dollar a pack that had 80 sheets of 10" by 12 1/2" and it was great to use and I made about 300-400 logos a month for a lot of shapers on Kauai for a few years. Aloha,Kokua

Oneula sent me a packet of that same rice paper (must have been the real stuff, it had Japanese writing on it) I put one sheet through at a time without a backing sheet on my Ink Jet Printer.

I find if you keep the colours solid, they come through really well, fine mixes of colours don't look very good on anything but white.

I also suggest painting the back with a whitewash for applications other than white backgrounds...

Kokua,

Could you pm the name of that paper and a good printer. I see a nice one that uses four colors and has his own e mail address in memory by H.P. that I am looking at.  I have had such good luck with New Wave and screening for my stuff, but I might start experimenting with the smaller logos that go around the main logo.

Tell Bernie Hello.  Hope he is doing well. One of the most Aloha filled surfers around.

if grrenlight paper was good, why not use it ?

Aloha solo. The name was in Japanes and I have no idea what it was and I gave away all that I had to some of the shapers on Kauai before I left. It was the same that oneula sent to Hicksy and you should PM oneula for more info and he may even be able to send you some since he knew where to buy it on OahuI probably should have given it away to my sway brothers but my life was in a state of chaos and the guys I gave it to will use it and they were also guys who I did their logos for for years, then gave them their all their logos on a disk so they could print their own. The main thing about buying a printer for doing logos is to get one that uses pigment ink for their colors since all printers use it for black but not all use it for their colors. Epson, Canon and HP all make a printer that uses Pigment ink or the other name is archival ink. I hope that helps and get in touch with oneula for the paper. Aloha,Kokua

I use whengzou japanese fine rice paper but I dont put em in a printer, prefer to do em hand drawn.....
