scored a free long board that needed alot of work.I had a vision of scraping the middle section out and make a mini sims on the cheap. I also got xtra fiberglass cloth some how from my dealer. got 6’ x 22’ 2.25" of foam outta it .
made a little progress. about 1 hour total so far. sanded edges down. and hit deck with 80 grit with sander for a few minutues. kinda funky to “shape” with the deck already domed and has ding repairs on the rails so hard to make even.
gonna thin out tail and round off rails more next.liking the super thick stringer, seemed easier to NOT hit foam on the sides of it.
stopped by the fabric store, all the good stuff was $12 a yard so went to the discounted section.found some funky gray $ cloth @ $3 a yard x 4 yards.+tax
pretty happy how it came along. got to try some cloth inlay and have some fun.It was a funky little build but well worth it. took about 3-5 hours of here and there touches.
total cost with brushes and epoxy resin about $75.
How’s she ride? -> 'Ray mentioned earlier “Rocker or lack of rocker would be my only worry. Nose flip on those little boards is important”; based on your ride report, would you change anything on it?
good eye monk star.It was only 4 yards amd actually $3.33 came out to $15 even with tax / typo
so I took it out today before work for 45 minutes in 5’-7’ clean stuff. It did great on the paddle power being 2"ish thick.got about 5 waves.1st one wipe out,2nd wave the best ride on it,few tight turns. got a couple ok rides.flat rocker no problem if on a late drop.really fast too
when I got out I saw one of my hand made customs board in the parking lot and dude was loving his board I made him.that made my day
