Longboard concave question

Hi, I have a question concerning concave in a longboard. This will be my second surfboard I personally made also my first longboard. As I have seen on some surfer’s lonboards, they have concaves in the nose. I am going to make a 9’ longboard for NOSERIDING! I don’t know what kind of dimensions I should use or how/where I should put the concave. Please let me know your thoughts on some dimensions and concaves so I know what to do. I also need to know how far up I should put my 10" fin box. Thanks -Brett. Check out this picture of the board on the right- you can see a definite concave http://www.cooperfishsurfboards.com/galtod.html

Brett-I generally use these dimensions for my noseriders:18-18 1/2 nose,23 width,15 hip. For a single fin I put the box at 5" up from the tail.I use a teardrop style concave.Where they start and end varies for me.In the first 1/4 of the nose area should do. If using a planer, make a few 0 to full passesdown the stringer towards the nose until desired depth. Make consecutive cuts in the same manner moving out toward the rail on both sides of your first cut except end the cut shallower as you get farther out to the rail. Get the picture.Clean up with a sureform and be sure to keep that stringer down. Wrap a piece of 60 grit around a good round foam bone from your templating. This makes a great tool for getting into concaves for cleanup. Hope this helps.Good luck.TedK.
