The old FCS longboard fins had four tabs at the base. You needed to align at least four FCS plugs in a row, more if you want to adjust the fin’s position. Regular two plug FCS fins are weak. As you can imagine, the four tab longboard fins were subject to more stress and thus increased chance of failure. The old fins were discontinued by FCS and now they make standard slot base fins. If you only have two FCS plugs in the center fin position, you’re either going to have to add more plugs and hope to find one of FCS’s discontinued fins, or replace it with a standard fin box. Of course there’s always the option of glass on.
