Longboard restoration

Hey everyone!

I am a novice here and seeking some help in restoration of a longboard. I am an intermediate surfer and I bought the board for only $50, so now willing to repair it. I am not considering it as a value or try to save some money on. I consider it as a learning experience and more like a hobby. The goal is to restore the board to its functional condition and make it watertight.

So below are pictures of the board. After removing the wax, the deck looks not too bad. It does not have any major dings or cracks, signs of delam. But as seen on the pictures the bottom is pretty bad with multiple cracks and waterlogged. Please check my plan and correct me if possible:

  1. Repair all smaller cracks by opening it, cut the bad foam, then using Qcell to refill the holes, then apply 6oz cloth and then hot coat it.

  2. Big waterlogged section on the nose (picture3) with brown foam… is a bit of an issue. I am thinking to sand it to cloth, then cut it off along the cracks, then sand the foam carefully and then put some Qcell on it and then cloth, hot coat. Or should I replace the foam?

  3. I am thinking just to repair all cracks/holes locally. Then sand it a little bit an dthen paint. Or should I recoat the whole board? My concern is that will make the board havier.

  4. Nose, tail and stinger does not look like it has a big damage.

I suspect the board was sitting at someoneelse’s shed for a long time and probably dried out as I dont feel the board is heavy. I live in Quensland, Australia, so will be using it for local points. My repair experience is pretty poor, I have only dealt with small dings and so on. So hopefully will be a good experience.

Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thank you!
