I’m not sure where to post this on Sways, so here it is. I posted a thread about my paddleboard build a couple of months ago and had great feedback from everyone so i figured I’d send out a call for help on the next part of my project–Catalina. I’ll be paddling in the Catalina Classic August 29th and am desperately looking for a vessel to act as my rule ordained chase boat. It has to have VHF and GPS, and would need to be free to take the trip on August 28th, spend the night on the island, and leave early the next morning for the long haul home. I will cover all expenses (fuel, food, etc.) and am looking for anyone in Socal willing to take a trip out to the island for this event.
For those of you who haven’t been to the race, it is truly something else. The gathering of the paddleboard tribe the night before the race is quite a sight. Racers camp out and try to sneak in some sleep while the boat crews party through the night and into the next day’s trek home. So if anyone has a boat and nothing better to do the last weekend of August, lets go to Catalina!
PS. this request is actually looking for two boats. My brother, my dad, and myself will be in the race and so far we only have one boat for the three of us. So if anyone reading this feels like spending a day on Catalina, and a night fraternizing with the paddling world and the islanders, please respond!
