Hey guys…I’m interested in building a stand-up paddle board. I’ve never used one and I can’t decide if I’m more excited to build it or use it…but I would like to see one up close, maybe take some dimensons. Stand-up paddling isn’t very big on the east coast, but if anyone has one who wouldn’t mind me stealing for a couple days I would appreciate it!
Hey there, Im not in NY but am in FL and just got done building a SUP. Total blast to build, 1st board I have ever been involved in shaping before. Its definently a little tough to get down but it comes, it just clicked this weekend and now I am SUPing it and not falling off too much. As for dimensions, go big for the first one. It will be more stable, have more float and this all equals more fun and time on the water. My board is 11’x23nx29x19t. The thickness is 5 inches. Im 6’5’’ 240, so the 29’’ wide made it a little more tough to learn, but well worth it because it is a little closer to an actual surfboard when it comes to riding waves. Hope this helps, PM me if you have any other questions.
