Hey guys seeing if anyone out there has a clark foam modified hitachi planer not working that they would sell for parts. I have a unmodified hitachi that i was looking to convert. The depth adjustment part and front shoe is the what im looking for. Thanks
The gold is in the front mechanism.
You are looking at it wrong, Buy a used modified and use that, if it ever craps out use the goodies from your regular hitachi.
I have 3 modifieds, bought 1 new the other 2 I have found on craigslist for about 100.00 keep looking.
Three hitachi’s, nice. Yea thats another way to go. If i could find one for that price used or even a little more that would be ideal. In the last few years ive bought two skils that work awesome so i really dont need it but now im kinda addicted to planers. Id like to try out a hitachi but if my girl found out i spent another 400 on a planer she would make me spend 400 on her, chicks man. Anyone would you wanna part with one.
There's one in the Sways surf shop right now for $280.. Must still be available as the add has not been pulled or marked yet. I think that's pretty reasonable for one that has seen little use.
Thats not too bad.
Im not interested in selling any for the reason I posted in the first response, all the gold is in those bodies, so on paper to me they are worth 400.00 because anything that ever goes wrong I can replace in 20 minutes with parts from a 50.00 stock hitachi. Aside from the bearings all the other mods are non wearable parts and should last the next 30-40 years I plan on doing boards.

I bought a box full Of Clark mods once at the estate sale of an R.I.P. shaper for $20. They were in pieces and a couple of the bodies had melted at the bearings. At the time I didn't have much cash so I picked up that box and several customized sanding blocks. That was all I had cash for and there was lots of other stuff I would have liked to buy. The box was a great find though; with two depth mechanisims, a few sets of blades and a couple of bodies with modified handles. I kitted the parts into a couple of $60 stock Hitachis that I had bought from Lowes. The sanding blocks have become some of my favorite tools.
