Looking for info on Lightning Bolt

Hi Everyone,

I’m a new poster, so please forgive any mistakes.  I’m hoping some of you Swaylockians can provide some info on this Lightning Bolt I recently picked up.  I understand there were a lot of ghost shapers for these “Gerry Lopez Models”, but maybe someone can tell me who shaped this and approximately when it was shaped.  The boards dims are approx. 7’4" x 20.5 x 3.  There is no leash plug.  The serial number behind the logo near the tail is 00790 (I think, the 7 may be a 4 or a 9).  There is also a number 78 beneath the logo (shaped in '78?).  I haven’t found anything written on the stringer.

Thanks,

Bill T.  Will chime in on this for sure.   He shaped lightning bolts for a number of years on maui I believe.

As requested, I will chime in.     I did the first 18 boards for Lightning Bolt, on contract, at Surf Systems, located in Solana Beach..    After they got their factory in operation, I did no other boards for them.     I did not shape for them anywhere in Hawaii.    Someone else will have to fill in the blanks, though I suspect the ''78'' does indicate the year of manufacture.   Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks for input Bill.  The knowledge base on this site never ceases to amaze me!

I just figured out how to post the pics.  Maybe this will help.

Not really. You uploaded them to tinypic, and posted links. You should learn how to include the pics in your post.

Anyway, nice board. Could be worth a few $.

That is a real nice board.  LOVE the stinger!

This is good to know-.

I had a similar one with those same exact wings in 77’

mine was shaped by Billy Hamilton. Your mileage may vary.
