that’s my next question- do you want a board of the rqack from a shop or visit with a shaper and get a custom? either case i can point you in the right direction.
Try Matt Moore, his shop Rincon Surf Designs is on the main drag in Carpinteria just south of SB, and he makes really good surfboards. If they’re good enough for Curren then they’re good enough for the likes of us!
If you like CI shapes you might want to stop in the shop and check the rack in the back on the right side of the store. They have tons of models w/ small flaws for cheaper and a good used rack also.

if you make evntura there are three board shops all within a block of each other on thompson st. by the fairgrounds.ventura surf shop, wavefront and foam, fins and fiberglass.each shop carries boards by various local ventura/sb shapers-longboards, short, guns, fishes hulls, retro, etc.buy a board and walk down the street to give it a go…
I lived in SB back in the 90's, and had a few boards shaped by a guy named Jock. His logo was Blue Shade Surfboards. They were good boards, reasonably priced, and completed in a reasonable amount of time. He spent time talking to me, and helped me design a board around my ability and the waves in the area. I haven't talked to him since I moved in 1998. I just googled "Blue Shade surfboards by Jock," and it looks like he still has his shop over in Goleta. Here's the contact info.
Wayne Rich is the shaper you want. You mention Yater well Wayne is in that league and accessible. You will enjoy the experience. I repect his abilities. Plus he’s a great surfer as well!
