i am looking to shape a board and was wondering if this shape i somewhat thought up would be an improvement, or would just be some crazy design that didn’t have any benefits.
i was think of using this http://www.pipedreamsurfboards.com/102015.php and maybe adding a squid shape but keep the fin arrangement cause that is awesome. I would really like to get some opinions from the experienced shapers and riders. thanks
…make one and see.
[but also see “what makes a high performance board” thread …particularly Bill Barnfield’s posts [he I would say is an experienced shaper AND rider]
cheers !

By squid shape do you mean split tail?
Should be very fast. Controlling the board in turns will be the challenge.
I bet it works great in the smaller stuff…

Due to the bizzare tail shape it will probably be hard to sell , however Murray Bourton is a grouse shaper and the board will do all that he says, A mate of mine just got a Beach Beat (Mick Grace) step deck, I don’t like them either but I am not riding it ,He says it is a rocket. Are you shaping it or buying it. Is it a keeper or just something to have a ride of. I have made a lot of spare cash over the years repairing bat tails, they chip like sh#t.
i’m just shaping for myself so far , but your right in that, i dont think to many people are looking for a board with a tail like that it is way out there
i saw the squid in surfer magazine about teahupoo, it was black or green and yellow i think. I’ve heard it is supposed to be the improvement of a regular swallow tail because it is easier to pump in the waves, but i havent seen one in real life yet.
