Does anyone have a picture of the famous Gery Lopez board and any sugestions on how I would do the lightning bolt on the deck. I was thinking cut laps and resin tint for the hull rails and desck. Just not too shure on how to do the Lightning bolt.

Even though the hay day of Lightning Bolt is decades old, Mr. Lopez is still making them. Why don’t you call him and ask him how he does it? Otherwise, try making your own unique logo that we can all copy.

I think the lightning bolt is “his” logo and might be trademarked/copyrighted. I don’t think you should be trying to copy it- whether it be a legal issue or a moral one. I don’t see any difference between copying the bolt and copying the R-dot (Rusty), CI logo, or any other "this is the symbol for my company/work/craftsmanship/efforts/etc.

In defence of my actions.
I have my own logo and the reason for me copying his lightning bolt is that it is a classic representation of an era of grace and style. I wish to use it as a once off design. It is just something I have always wanted to do. I would not ask to copy a Rusty design or a Ci design just because they looked cool as they dont mean anything to me. I would like this board to remind me of an era gone by. I have emailed him to ask his permission let see what he says. If he says no then I’ll have to look for something else. Maybe I’ll contact Shaun Thompson.
