kokua-----------------I was using aerialite and really liked it. Easy to wet out and lap. I tried some of that Korean glass the guys had up at the cannery and it was stiff and was harder to wet out. I was told by a friend in Santa Barbara that the stiffer the glass the stronger. The price for the Korean stuff was good though. I only glassed one board with it because it was harder to work with. I am sure I could have gotten used to it. I liked aerialite though. So bought two roles. I still have two partial roles of Aerialite that I’ve been using up for repairs. I did notice when I have used S in the past that my overlaps were more noticeable. McDing
Howzit McDing, Personally I like using a stiffer/ stronger fiberglass and that's why I order JPS warp glass. Since most of my work is free lapped lamination the stiffer glass has less tendency to have warbles as it drapes over the rails which makes for easier wetting out of the rails. Have never had a problem wetting out the Korean glass but that may be due to my squeegee method. I am going to get some info on the aerialite glass though.Aloha,Kokua
Kokua------------Yeah I didn’t have any serious problems with it because as soon as I wet it I could see what was going on. I had also been warned to be careful with it the first time. Whenever I sense something differant about a layup or am not familiar with the material being used; I keep my roller handy and wet it out a second time. It was a nice layup. Tight and seemed strong. I’ve heard though that the stuff is brittle. McDing
