For the moment I use an old windsurf as a paddle board, the days that the sea is flat.
Few days ago I went to a sport shop to check the prices of the paddles and I found that are so damn expensive between 60€-200€, not worth to pay that just for 2-3 days a month.
Then I decided to make my own paddle from some pieces of wood I have.
For the moment the hardest thing was to make the handle round without any special tools. I don’t have pictures for the process but, it was just using all the planes I have and cut all the edges.
~~After paddling / racing outrigger canoes, the angle would allow the paddle to perpendicular with the board in the power peak of the stroke. If you look at most SUP paddles they have angles ranging from about 6 to 12 degrees.
I still have some pieces of wood for another one a lil bigger, this one it might be used by my girlfriend (the entire paddle is about 1.80 meters or lil bit more and I’m 1.78m)
Next one I’ll do it like u say, with a slight angle, I wanna see what’s the difference between them.
I am gonna use it just when the sea is flat and I can’t surf.
Here’s a picture from today
. Next is 6oz on both sides of the blade and 11-12" of the shaft. Then i’ll varnish the entire paddle.
