Making FCS fin panels + a question

How many layers of of 4oz (or 6oz) cloth do i need to layup for FCS fins? I’ve searched the archives and gotten everything from 14 to 16, 35, and 40.

What’s the difference between laying up a fin with 4oz or with 6oz?

also, as far as the black G3s go, what material are they made of? plastic?

Chip sent me a pm a while ago after i asked the same thing. 40 layers 6oz for a single, which i have done, and 30 layers 6oz for fcs plugs, which i havent. My single fin panel ended up at about 1/2’’ thick, so if i was to do fcs fins, i would do 30. Hope it has helped.

If you roll it well it ought to come out at 26 layers of 6 oz. for an FCS plug, and it should fit.

For 4 oz it will obviously be more, in the neighborhood of 1.5 times as many or around 40.

The single fin should be 36 layers of 6 oz if it is rolled well (for a finbox tab which is 0.350" ). 40 layers should be substantially under a half inch if you roll it well when you do the layup.

Thanks guys.

Now anyone know anything about the G3s?

PLASTIC

I use the same as blakestah, 26 for FCS/probox, 36 for single fins with 6oz
