Makita planer

Any thought on this one. It’s a bit older.
Which may be good?
20 clams so the price seems right.
Yes I’m a cheap ass.

Looks fun Sk8. How is the clearance between the bottom of the belt guard or bearing cap and the botom of the rear shoe? Some planers have lots of room both sides, some are only good for a couple millimeters on the non-rabbeting side.

ill take some more pics, blades are still sharp.
older more solid model,

Right on. Where your outer thumb knuckle is on the planer- does it look like it will clear the blank or tend to drag when you are cutting deep? My old Ryobi is pretty shallow on that side and i had it ground down a little. My Skil 100 has room to spare both sides.

I’ll suss it out
I’m not up on the terminology but the rear part of the plate/shoe is a good 3mm clear of the section where the thumb knuckle is. But it’s pretty much level with the front adjustable section of the plate/shoe. One issue is that it only appears to have a depth down to 1mm which isn’t a deep cut. But this could be be good for me. Less chance of messing it up hahah.
The planers I have borrowed so far have had a barrel instead of blades. As in it’s like a barrel of uber touch sand paper made from metal teeth. So this will be interesting.
Has me so pumped to shape some thing. Just have two boards to sand first and two blanks then are. Early shaped.
But I have one PU blank and a Hittites blank of eps with a cedar stringer in it that are ready for love.

TOOOOO many projects.

And a house to get ready to flip. Hahahah
And a day job.
F is hot right now.

Does this look familiar??? https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/POWERCENTER-450W-16000rpm-Electric-wood-Planer_60522207044.html?s=p

yeah looks great for 20 bones! it will probably cut deeper if you keep turning it (should go more than one revolution?)

Yes like a copy of it?

Looks like solid plastic like it could drop on the floor with nothing more than a dent in the heavy plastic. Is it made in Japan?
Keep the bearings clean, blades sharp and belt in tact and this machine will outlast the rest.
Great buy!

Serial number is scratched off; it’s a ‘hot’ item.

hey mate,
I had to use one in Japan for a few weeks. Hated it, trigger was a nightmare on the wrist and the depth control was way to small and tight… I remember blisters,

You can easy make out the serial number in the real light, the guy I got it from was 60 plus and it was his dads. Who’s is long passed.

Ha guess I will be ok for wood then. But I’ll try it.
