yeah…i damn near shat myself 2 weeks ago when they officially announced that they were no longer looking for weapons of mass destruction…cuz that meant that 3 weeks ago they were still actively looking for WMDs. i mean what were they doing?..digging random holes in the sand hoping they’d find a nuclear warhead burried in camel shit??
What gets me about Iraq is our post war occupation of the state. We got rid of Saddam, we found no weapons (which we really knew were never there), etc etc etc. But it’s the post war occupation that really shows the true character and aim of Bush2. I was never in favor of invading, but I’m even more against Bush using U.S. lives to gain personal wealth through his companies control of so much in postwar Iraq. Anyways…congratulations on the election. Hopefully true democracy takes hold and kicks our a$$es out of there.
I agree Swaylocks isn’t the place, but it’s been a tough couple of years for us and our friends, and for this one brief moment I’ll also jump in to say I too feel the stoke. A patriot isn’t trained or merely a member of a political club. Against all odds and sacrifice it’s ultimately a matter of heart.
Whether it’s short or long you ride, Asian born with epoxy or handcrafted in the USA with a gloss poly you support, I’d like to think we could all agree to give a special salute to those who have given it all and to the strong who take a stand for them. With pride nuff said.
I think that we all are defantly stoked for the iraqis, but this war was never about freedom, its just turned into it. what ever happend to fighting the Talaban? and now theres talk of a draft, theres no way im going over there to fight some rednecks war. its not that i dont support the force, my cuz’s in the navy, but the cause is lost or has just been twisted into too many diffrent things.
First: personally, i don’t like to see this kind of thread on this forum. Just my opinion.
Second: I think that Iraq people had change from dictator Sadam to dictator Bush. Again, just my opinion.
So you think Randy French isn’t improving the surfboard industry ehhh, well lets face it, he doesn’t, but who cares? i can still order the board i want to, to the shaper i like (even Parmenter, yes, yes…).
This weekend i’ll give a try to a tinted UV resin… we’ll see what happens.

I do agree with Coque. I don’t understand why this one was not locked. I’m torn between the “hey, I’m stranger to all that stuff, Frenchies are cowards anyway, aren’t they?” attitude and the “What’s that to do with designing and shaping surfboards?” attitude.
Since both are adding something to this thread, I should have shut up, anyway…
Alright. I am doing this to make sure the thread gets locked. For that reason only. This got my thread locked awhile back ago and it was probably the right thing to do. Many of the subjects we discuss that DO have to do with surfing are controversial enough.
Here goes:
Bush’s intitial offer to help the people of the tsunami was $15 million. His Church could afford to give more than that. Bush’s initial request to go bomb Iraq because of the thread of a nucular (Bushism) cloud was 79 BILLION. Its certainly gone up since then. So we offer a few million initially to help victims and we need Billions to go kill some folks.
The Iraqi vote means absolutely nothing unless more Americans die to make sure the vote results will stand.
The majority of Iraq Shia Muslims (these are the same type of Muslims that bombed the trade towers and the most radical sect) The bunch that were in power were sunnis and not secular for the most part. Sadamm was a bad guy, what We may get now could be much worse and join forces with Iran. Unless of course American continues its occupation.
Any of this sound familiar…
FAct: Iraq was not a threat to the U.S.
Fact: America’s pre emtive war on Iraq is illegal by for the same reasons we went to war with them in the first place when THEY invaded a country without provocation.
FAct: There are just as many lies on fox news as CNN
Fact: this is a surfing forum not political forum
Fact: no weapons of mass destruction
Fact: this is a surfing forum not political forum
Where is billy goats gruff when you need him.
Drum roll…Moderators please put your finger on the button.
Fall in you slimy worms! I don’t believe what I’m seeing here! Where’ve you been all your lives, at an orgy? Listening to Mick Jagger music and bad mouthing your country?
oh, but my solosurfing friend…there is SO MUCH more…
the Shia’s voted because their leader told them to…told them it was more important than prayer and fasting. and they voted for INDEPENDENCE (the word iraqis use) – not “freedom” or “democracy” – INDEPENDENCE from everyone including the Americans. the iraqis are delighted to be voting, certainly, but it’s not some great democratic breakthrough that will turn iraq into a happy place and let Bush and Blair off the hook for messing things up royally.
and what can the new government actually do? the US still decides critical policies. the different factions may as well just split the country up geographically because there’s no way they’ll agree anything in a shared council.
we already know what will happen. as predicted months ago, the Shias have the majority. the kurds turned out to vote, because they’ve been murdered and marginalised for so long that they will take any form of voice they can get. the Sunni’s boycotted the vote, making the whole thing a farce.
wait and see what happens? they knew the outcome of this election long ago. all we don’t know is how obstructive the Sunni factions will be to the process from here on in.
and what’s worse…Shias form the vast majority in iraq and iran, which makes the two countries closer than they’ve been in a very long time. if the Suni’s default into civil war, they may find themselves not only hopelessly outnumbered within iraq, but also regionally as well. it depends, i think on what it percieves to be a bigger threat, a successful democratic and predominantly Shia iraq, or a Baathist/Suni military dictatorship form of iraq.
so either way…the whole thing is just fucked…thanks, dubya…good to know my friends died for a cause greater than your bank account.
