Well you might miss it due to the extremely poor coverage, but the elections in Iraq have been a huge success and I for one want to congratulate the Iraqi’s on their new FREEDOM! People risked life and limb to exercise thier hard earned right to do something that we as Americans often take for granted. I know there are hard times ahead, but there is no denying the victory and jubilation. Again, I say CONGRATULATIONS! (And thank you to all who joined and helped free them.)
here we go again…
can someone delete this while i still have my composure and can avoid going on a political rant.
i surf and shape to get away from the headache of world affairs and the stresses of that thing we all do called “life”.
politics is invading my “happy place”.
I agree soulstice,
I have been guilty myself, but this vote means nothing without more troops dying to enforce it. I will say nothing more and will be happy for deletion as well.
Hey bro.
Don’t be hatin’.
my intentions are pure.
I’m not supporting any candidate or policy.
I’m not supporting or opposing the war or terror or Bush or Kerry or epoxy vs. poly or shaping machines.
I’m just stoked by the infectious excitement of a large group of people who can now go surfin’ if they want.
(yeah, I know there’s mo waves there, y’know what I mean.
This isn’t a time for ranting brother it is a time for celebration. Thats all.
Funny thing is the ones who are whinning about it being political are the ones making it political.
Just leave it at STOKED! You’d be stoked to if you were in there shoes. Must we find flaws with everthing???
okay…but feel free to take off the rose-colored glasses and look at the world from all angles…
American Deaths- Since war began (3/19/03): 1429
Iraqi Civilian Deaths- 15563-17789
There is no flag large enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people.
Oh dear boy. You’ve only traded the rose colored glasses for closed eyes.
Every great thing has a price. (even a great surfboard) You’re the kind of guy who finds flaws in everything.
You refuse to see all the good that is going on in the world and in Iraq in particular. That’s fine. Have your opinion no matter how negative and hateful it is. I respect your right to have it. That is what is so great about this country and what is becoming great about Iraq. It take s no effort to find the bad. Get off yer cynical a** and search for the truth. Really!
Imperialism is characterized by monopoly corporations and the compulsion to export capital abroad (for higher profits). Unlike capitalism in earlier stages, in the imperialist stage, capitalism has no more progress to bring the world, only the continuous threat of extinction through world war and environmental catastrophe.
Not my words.
i know the truth…which i suppose is why i’m so cynical. i know that “bush 2 & friends” have made huge financial gains at the great expense of american tax dollars and lives…both of which could have been put to far better use elsewhere. i know that the iraqi people don’t want us there. i know that any reasonably intelligent american doesn’t want to be there. i know that a good friend of mine is dead because he was standing in the wrong place at the wrong time in fallujah. i know that another friend of mine had a complete breakdown after having to put a few rounds through a bunch of kids who were only guilty of not wanting some asshole from half way around the world using their back yard as a firing range. i know that i don’t want to go to the middle east this summer on my american passport…but i’m going to do it anyway. i know that this “election” was anything but fair, and can only hope that our government’s plan to install their own puppet into iraqi government backfires and the people managed to elect someone who will support the iraqi resistance and focus on getting every american out of there. what’s really funny is that sadam’s name wasn’t on the ballot. i’m curious to know how he’d have done at the polls.
you want to heal the WORLD…then look at the WORLD…not just the part with oil. people in africa suffer a far worse fate than the iraqis ever did under sadam. they get their hands, feet, ears, and whatever else hacked off with a machete for shits and giggles so that one clan can show it’s dominance through a region in an attempt to control the diamond trade. but yeah…it’s all about the PEOPLE!
so i’ll tell ya what…i’ll get off my cynical ass and search for more truth if you’ll open your eyes and see the truth that’s right in front of you…deal?!

p.s. –
GO BUSH…HE’S NOT JUST AN AMERICAN HERO…HE’S A WORLD HERO!!!
TRUTH, FREEDOM, LIBERTY, JUSTICE, AND ALL THAT OTHER BULLSHIT!!!
YEAH!!!
This one simple truth you have failed to grasp as peo[le like you usually do.
I am happy that they are happy. Is the whole thing perfect or great? absolutely not!
But still i am happy for them and so desired to express it w/o any political BS.
But people like you and Saddam really don’t want me or them to have freedom.
You don’t value liberty or you wouldn’t beg for the post to be deleated.
The truth about yourself totally escapes you while you claim to know the truth about others.
I’m stoked for them. I am thankful for all who made this possible, and there is nothing you can do about it.
Nor should you want to if you were truly a lover of freedom. If however you were a tyranical dictator who could kill me then I’d be concerned to say the least. Brother, don’t you get it? The tyrannical dictator that was once over them is gone. They are stoked. You should be too!
P.s. I know it’s hard to let go of something you feel so strong about but really try a different source of info. C’mon just try to see what else is out there. Pretty please?
I am happy that they are happy.
well, at least we found the primary flaw in your reasoning…THEY AREN’T HAPPY…THEY DON’T WANT US THERE…AND THEY WON’T BE HAPPY AS LONG AS WE ARE THERE!
But people like you and Saddam really don’t want me or them to have freedom
sorry, buddy…but you crossed a line with that one. do you know saddam…have you personally asked his opinion on this one. speak for yourself…not for others. as for me…i love my freedom. in what other country could i burn an american flag and piss on the ashes? well, i suppose nowadays i can do that in any country…granted, it would be better received in others than in the good ol’ U.S. of A…but that doesn’t mean i can’t do it from the comfort of my own front porch.
You don’t value liberty or you wouldn’t beg for the post to be deleated.
i most certainly do (and again, don’t speak for me…you don’t know me), but there is a place to debate matters such as this and Swaylocks is not it. this has already been established by the members and the moderators. if you’d like to PM me, i’d be happy to refer you to a number of political message boards that i’m certain are on fire with this very subject.

my “truth” comes from eyewitness accounts of lifelong friends. and your “truth” comes from…(fox news)…???

Brother, don’t you get it? The tyrannical dictator that was once over them is gone. They are stoked. You should be too!
if this war was about freedom from oppression, it would have gone down in a place like africa…not an already politically-sensitive place like the middle east and certainly not in any secular state. do yourself a favor and stop watching fox. you can get newspapers from around the world online…try reading some. a third-party perspective might do you some good.
we could go back and forth ad nauseum…or we can just agree to disagree.
The fool cries out for silence!..
There is nothing to debate. Never was. …
Congratulations People of Iraq, and thank you to all those who made it possible!!..
I celebrate the massive stoke with you!!
The fool cries out for silence!..
There is nothing to debate. Never was. …
like i said…i’d be more than happy to direct you to any number of political forums where you can discuss this to your heart’s content with me, people who share my perspective, and people who share yours. but don’t delude yourself into thinking that no one else can be justified in an alternate view. and don’t call me a fool…like i said, you don’t know me…but if you and i were standing side by side, i promise you i would not be the one considered “the fool”. i’d challenge you to a battle of wits, but you’re clearly unarmed. i’d suggest a battle of intellect, but that wouldn’t be fair to you. so how about we just take a lesson from bob marley and accept that “we don’t need no more trouble…what we need is love”.
peace be da journey…

Oh… thank god it’s just another political discussion. For a second there I thought he’d collapsed, was found comatose and had been put on life support machines at the hospital.
Aquafiend- Take your political trolls back to the surfermag forum- This post has nothing to do with surfboard design and construction. -Carl
It’s to bad you guys can’t see the stoke. I thought that is what surfing is all about. I didn’t bring in anything political, soulstice did. Just because you’re so hell-bent against Bush/War you fail to see something good that happened over there. It’s really sad.
Right on aquafiend
I feel the same and almost everyone I surfed with sunday morning were just as stoked as you.
You are not alone.
Shame on you soulstice! You say to keep the politics out of it but then…
that (up 2 posts) is precisely how you keep politics off this board…YOU TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE!..LIKE TO A POLITICAL MESSAGE BOARD!!! do you need help connecting the dots there?..should i draw you a diagram or something?
shame on who?!
