Matt; don't leave me hanging bro!

About them blady rails…Thanks man! miles

About them blady rails…Thanks man! miles I draw two lines on the deck parallel with the template of board, from tail to nose. One is about 6" over from rail, the other about 3" from rail.I then run a line down the center or middle of rail as a guide.I then start planing away the foam along the lines. The deck lines will aide in giving you a a nice ,tri-plane transition from the hull up to rails and from the deck down to rails. For the rails, cut in rail bands as usual, doing the same number and size of cuts from the hull side as the deck side. Then cut bands within the bands, working your way around the rail.Eventually you will have a rail with several small(about1/4")rail bands runig from the hull up and deck down. There will be a small bit of raildown the center that is left uncut(you should still be able to see your pencil line)This will be about1/4 to 1/2" wide depending on how far around you made your rail bands.Start screening etc, and that should do it.Kinda basic instructions but I hope it gets you started.Just try to do the same thing to the deck portion of the rails as you do to the hull portion.the more bands the more you can blade the rails.Good luck!

Thanks Matt. A couple questions though; so I am basically banding the hull side first, followed by the deck side. Bands on both sides should be equal in depth and also in how far towards the stringer they go (6" or so)? I do want some belly on the hull side but not too much. I imagine I’ll band the bottom first, resulting in some belly and the blady rail of that side. Then I will do slightly larger bands on the deck, ending at the blady rail(still leaving 1/4 to 1/2"). Or am I wrong in thinking that doing both sides equally will give me too much belly? Sheesh. Any more info you can provide is great, you have already helped a lot. First thing I’ll do is study the log I enjoy surfing, and go from there- miles
