Howzit all,
I just got a call from a friend in HI and he wants me to shape him a couple boards similar to a couple of Merrick boards. He wants a 6’2" Flyer II and a 6’1" board similar to the M4. Is there anyone here who can provide me with any details of these shapes? Is there anyone with any dimensions? I’m not the copying type and I told my buddy that, so I’m gonna try a few new things with these shapes. Any help you guys can provide me with would be awesome.

well, if that’s what you think…then you probably shouldn’t copy his shapes.
I’m not here to copy his shapes. I’m planning on doing a few changes with the bottom contour etc… I just wanted to get the basic outline and dimensions of these shapes.

Why don’t you go to a surfshop with a tape measure. I believe there must be a least a couple surf shops in LA county that sell Merricks…maybe.
i visually inspected a flyer II and maybe an M4 as well…
first, the II is nothing like the original…its a more all around shape better suited for good waves or better…outline and rocker just like the website…rocker was very smooth and clean…bottom contour was single to double…the double started just ahead of the front fins…dont remember anything else about it
if the M4 is the rounded pintail that DR won in the X games on then that one has a single concave running full length and there’s a pronounced tail flip behind the front fins that doesnt seem to show in the website…the concave is deep and stays deep around the fins where that tail flip was…
in HI i’d use the II and pass on the M4…
i have no dimensionals to offer just going from memory…look for a shop that has them is the best advice…good luck
