Hi,>>> Im no expert on old boards, but from what I have read in the past…I have > hear of a guy named Wayne Land shaping for Greg Noll at one time. Maybe > thats the Wayne you are mentioning.>>> FD We had a Da Cat a few years ago and I talked with Laura Knoll (Greg’s ex) and she was really nice.I cant remember exactly but Wayne Land shaped a lot of the Cat Models and they were making their own blanks. That was a huge outfit building (supposedly) up to like 50 boards a day or something.Someone out in Swaylock land may be able to hook you up with Ms. Knoll. good luck R. Brucker
You might try the Rhyn Noll surf shop in Crescent City, Ca. owned by Greg Noll’s son. He might be able to hook you up with the man himself.

i dunno-looks like it could be one of those fake da cats that a guy in so > cal got busted for making a few years ago…buyer beware Please tell me some more about the fakes…I did buy my board in Jersey in 1968…it was not new…Koseffs sold Noll boards in Beach Haven on Long Beach Island…the authenticity of the board is a moot point…I’m trying to find out whether da cat was around Jersey at the time and may have used this board in a expo or contest…thanks for the thought…JJC

I heard Greg say that the guy that was making the fakes, eather printed Gregs name and Greg always didn’t. Or the other way around. The guy always used Greg Noll’s name. I also heard that Greg said that the guy was very good, and that he(Greg) would not have found him out if it was not that that one thing.

The guy always used Greg Noll’s name. I also heard that > Greg said that the guy was very good, and that he(Greg) would not have > found him out if it was not that that one thing. the guy doing them lived in the SF Valley in so.cal.did’em about 10 years ago, give or take a year.i’ve seen them and they are bitchin’ boards.i think this all took place right before or at same time Noll and Dora came out with their limited edition/collector series of cats.the forger had authentic laminates and everything leading some to think Dora might have been behind the whole thing, trying to cash in double time.Anyway, I believe a law officer bought one and was told by a friend or someone knowledgable that he had just purchased an imitation Cat.A sting was set up and the guy was busted. At least that’s what I recall.bottom line, if you did purchase in '68 then it must be the real deal.you oughta take it out and trim a few before you get rid of it!
