Mid 70's Brewer?

So I ran across this at a swap meet about 8 months ago, and was wondering if anyone could maybe help me out on the story behind it…

It was shaped by Sam Hawk for a “Patti” labeled #553

I tryed asking his brother Chris here in town about it but got nowhere. I guess there was a falling out of sorts and they dont talk?

Its pretty trashed so I dont know if I can restore it, I dont want to lose the original decal and pencil marks…

Any help or answers would be appreciated… Allan

Howzit AC, Sam and a few others shaped for Brewer back then and I had one of his shapes and it was a magic board. Also had a board shaped by Steve Dunham under the Brewer logo that was a great board, the only Brewer I owned that was a flop was one shaped by Dick himself.Aloha,Kokua

this one looks real fun! My girl keeps bugging me to fix it, but Id have to pump it so full of cabosil it would be heavy as hell. I thought about stripping/restoring i, but kinda wanted to hang onto the original logo and pencil lines… Is Sam still around?

Okay, so Ive been browsing the restoration threads and decided to have a go at restoring my old brewer.

I got the delamed bottom off, and filled in a bulk of the bad foam chunks. I decided on a course of action for the deck, because I kinda wanted to hang onto it (labels, pencil marks, and the yellowing looks cool) I decided to kinda go with a modified pinline setup, with the back of the board being exposed (see pics, hard to explain) Im sanding it down, and smoothing it out, prepping for the glass job, where I’ll use an opaque resin to cover the fixed spots. I filled the pressure dings on the deck with clear resin and just kept sanding them down until I had a smooth deck.

Hopefully the end result will look pretty good, and maybe I’ll have a ridable board that doesnt way 8o lbs…

some mo’ pics of the terror that is a hawaiian dirt covered 30 yr. old board…

Le’ Brewer with the glass stripped, deck sanded, and still not quite sure what to do about the tail. About to smooth the deck and bottom out with Qcell or some sort of spackle… anyone have any great ideas???

i really enjoy restorations. how’s your progress with the brewer going?
