I’m needing some guidance on fin placement ideas for a 2+1 mid length I shaped. I’ve made one in the past (same design) but the board had a lot of drive when I rode it. It was hard to ride backside. It did have a heavier glass job than this one, and the side fin boxes were 2” farther back than this current board I made. I also thinned out the tail on this one.
side fin boxes are 14” up from the tail, 1.25” off the rail w/ 3/16” toe in. 4.5 degree cant. Center fin box is either going to be 4 or 4.5 from the tail. Rounded pin tail. Let me know if y’all think I should move the center fin box up or back more.
The boards I have with fin boxes are all around the 5” mark from the tail. The Greenlight guide recommends 5-5 1/2. If the previous board had too much drive you may want the centre fin further forward?
You said something about 6’4” in you last post? So is that the length of the board you referred to in your initial post? I ask because fin placement is relevant to length of the board and the type of waves the board is to be ridden in. Otherwise there is no reason to throw hypothetical numbers out there.
Those numbers look great. For your center box 4 1/2 zone is probably where you’ll land. Yoh just want to be able to achieve 1 1/2” gap between the lead if the center fin and rear of the side and some room to adjust either way from there within the box
