So there was an an old thread over on Industry Talk that started and died titled ; " Blair Foam" ( I think). I said I would bring it up over here. I don’t know the history of the Surfboard Foam operation, but we are now referring to Millennium Foam. This is a huge company with manufacturing in California and. Alabama. Muti-million dolor company for sure. BUT; Surfboard blanks are a very small part of what they do. They are manufacturers of Rubber and Polyurethane tires. So the time your at the warehouse loading a pallet of something with the forklift you’ll most likely be on Millennium hard rubber tires. Or when you’re at Six Flags or Magic Mountain the Rollercoaster wheels will be manufactured by Millenium. When it comes to Chemistry and Poly They know their stuff. Their blanks are poured in Ensenada, BC and the stringers and glue ups are done in Gardena Ca. Right down in the heart of the LA Basin. They have a warehouse distribution center in O’side. Several of the guys doing the bandsaw work and glue ups worked for Clark. Marco overseas the operation. Carol will take you order at the plant and Seth is outside sales. Very good foam. I’ll post contact info later. Just thought I would update over here on GD as there was some curiosity. Lowel
Not very good pics. I’m due for an Oder from them. I’ll snap a few more next time. I didn’t want to make anyone mad. Their bandsaw set up and glue rack are top secret.
Blair Foam now Milleniun Foam bought all the old gluing eqiptment and woodworking tooling from the Green Valley Mill. They purchased it from Clark. They bought it to glue up all the new foam coming out after the Clark closing. For a short time, they were across the street from me. That was nice.
The US Blank crew bought all new equiptment. Wanted to update the gluing process I was told.
The Millenium is nice foam. I can run with my planer and no rips in the foam.
Well how abouts that. I’m in Pensacola area so Alabama location looks like maybe only a couple hours away
Anyone in my area wanna put together a batch? I requested info from them, not sure if they are stocked yet.
Looks like Alabama is just a distribution center, all production still in California.
I couldn’t tell youfor sure that there are any surfboard blanks in Alabama. You’d have to check their website for info or maybe give them a call. Lowel
I think since they were acquired by Millennium alot has changed. Never saw anything as advanced as there setup at Grubby’s. I mean it’s all put together by a machinist and a welder, but; I say nothing else. Their foam is as good as anyone and I dare say better by miles over one of the other two. Seeing Clark’s old guys in there is always a kick. The tail block on this old Echotech is a piece of HD they gave to me. Lowel
