Just a recent shaping vid, nothing special… I always watched other shapers whenever i have the chance, i think you always can pick out stuff that might work for you or not

thanks for posting that Josh, I also like to watch videos of shapers

there are some here who will watch it and most likely find something to criticize so be thick-skinned, the end result is a great looking shortboard

good soundtrack

Yeah thanks Rand, Yeah i Know the beating will commence shortly, I never claimed to be a master shaper.  Just another tool for people to take what they see and either mark it up as usefull or garbage.  I utilized this site heavly when i first started.  I dont get to post here very often anymore but, for those just learning it might help out…

Hey Josh,

I noticed you route your outlines and hold the template with small pressure clamps. You may want to try long-reach vice clamps to hold down the template from the opposite side. I do this with full-length templates and you can do the entire side in one pass with the router. You could do the same with smaller templates. I got the long reach clamps cheap from Harbor Freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/3-piece-locking-c-clamp-set-6002.html

Anyway, thanks for the vid. Always good to watch others’ techniques.

Nice, those look like they would go well with full templates.

They work great with full templates. Just use a small scrap piece of masonite against the foam on the bottom where the clamp could contact the foam.
