I must say I have to agree. But anyway…
way too much indeed.
I agree. Way too much, and usually in batches to boot.
Woa, sorry guys. To be honest with you, the only reason i post all my boards online is that is gives me an online storage of every board i shape, also we have been having our deal of people stealing boards around our beaches. Having pics of every board sold online gives everyone access to their board. I’m just a small part time shaper, full time fireman, I not looking to offend anyone by posting pics. I actually enjoy looking at everyone’s boards. For future I’ll try not to post batches of the same type board-josh
Josh, you clearly have a website, why not just post all of the boards on your site?
I’m going to move in that direction i just need to build another page and work on photo sizes so it doesn’t take so long to load-josh
bro, just checked your website. good stuff. The shaping video of the retro fish is cool. If anything, your just doing some self promotion and guerrilla advertising, who cares. Big names on the erBB did the same thing in the beginning, now have alot of happy customers. keep up the good work Dave
I think the Resources Section needs a definition as to
what qualifies as a resource. Putting a 1st timers fugly board in there is not a ‘shared resource’, especially when that file should be attached to a post.
Is the purpose of the ‘resource section’ defined anywhere?
Then again Miller Surfboards cluttering it up with all his
shaped boards and using it as a personal file server , instead of paying a ‘file share’ outfit, doesnt qualify either.
I’ve sorted through the resources section before trying to find something important and its a friggin’ pain.
Im sorry Davel if my reply seemed as a reply to you.
Sometimes it just easier to pick the closest reply.
Nothing personal.
As to my reply, well its my opinion and it stands as is, and I see no reason to state it more vociferously or to engage in redundancy as it wouldnt strengthen my argument but merely display and embolden the strength of my conviction.
His boards are in the resources section, under the picture section… and Being what they are, pictures, i think they are in the appropriate place. I too have looked through the PICTURE archive and found many beautiful boards by first timers, and boards that arn’t so hot, but i still took something away as to what not to do.
Gentlemen,
Short answer here is no – there is no real policy around resources submissions so long as they revolve around surfing, surfboards and surf culture.
My original vision of the photo archive was just that – an archive – where any and all surfcraft could and should be documented. If every surfboard in existence was documented here, along with a story, then I would be happy. In that vain, I never envisioned any limits on how many boards a person should submit to the archive.
I do believe common sense and decency should inform how one posts resources, and this, for the most part has been the case. If you are a custom shaper and posting dozen’s of identical white 6’2"s, then you are probably doing yourself a disservice. If, on the other hand, you take the time and make the effort to post great, professional looking resources, and this helps you generate leads, get your name out, build your brand, whatever, then great! I’m happy for you. Please use Swaylock’s to the maximum.
My only suggestion to Josh Miller (and any other custom shapers) would be to take the Swaylock’s platform a bit more seriously. Your images aren’t doing justice to your clearly skilled design and construction. In that vain, I would suggest producing images with more artistic/professional quality and more views and angles (ie. foil, fins, artwork, etc).
Regarding the usability of the resources – well that’s on me. This is I intend to improve upon in the not so distant future. Changes are coming.
Enjoy,
Swaylock
…Mike,
in which way any of us can post quality pictures (in the resources) if the Kb s are too low?
thanks
Reverb,
You can load images up to 100kb each in the resources. That’s actually pretty big.
What size images are you thinking of?
Mike
Better that a China board topic
wouldt you say?
you go miller!!!
Would be nice if people who upload pics to the reviews section could have it remain on display for a few days without having it shoved aside for photo archiving. That’s what photobucket is for correct?
I just took one week off from Swaylock’s.com. Thank you Mr Swaylock for your comments.
Our computer crashed about 8 months ago. Lucky for me my teenage daughter had me store most of my photos on a Zip drive. Lucky for me I recovered lots of my stuff on this site and from Photobucket…
