I saw something like this at Lowes earlier this year
I was thinking the same thing just using them as a rail band tool for compsands
But they sold out of them already
They were cheap well under $100 USD
reminded me of the little PorterCable belt sander that’s all the rage nowadays.

There’s another version being sold to balsa model airplane builders called the POWER PLANE
It’s made by a company called Great Planes (www.greatplanes.com) and uses a spiral cutting blade
you can hold it in one hand and it only cuts from 0.010"-0.030"
