THello everyone! I am new to sway locks and new to shaping! I have always wanted to give building my own board a shot and finally have the oportunity to do so! I have purchased an 8’9 longboard blank from greenlight surf supply. I was thinking of shaping something in the 8’4 range and was wondering if anyone has any cool templates or dimensions. I would appreciate any suggestions given.

Tom - I built an 8-4 that I absolutely love. You can see it here http://www.swaylocks.com/node/63845. I probably have a spin template around that I could copy, or I could give dimensions, whatever works for you. Otherwise just take any longboard template and remove a little from the middle, blend the rail, should be fine.
I did as Huck said and it worked well for me. Had a friend’s LB I loved, but wanted something about 8" shorter so I took the template and shrunk it down to the length I wanted and it worked out well.
