Seems when I try this shape, I’ll just call it the mini Gene Simmons and if questioned, just state that the shape was inspired by his hair style which is a very close match.
I believe in trademarks. They are the proper method to do something if you plan on using it as a business. However…in surfing, this has likely going to cause less not more support.
THE FIRST MINI SIMMONS I EVER SAW WAS SHAPED BY ALAN R. NELSON, OF LA JOLLA. THAT WAS IN 1956/57, AT WINDANSEA, RIGHT DOWN TO THE TWIN HALF MOON FINS. IT WAS MADE OF BALSA. Mr. Bauguess is making a false claim, IMO. Long ago, in describing the design features of Alan's board, I called it a Mini Simmons. I'd never heard that term used before, but it accurately described every aspect of the board that Alan built. As I recall, it was 5' 0'' x 20'' I'm sure some idiot will trademark Micro Simmons, in the near future. Hmmmmm, maybe I'll do it. Anyone want to order a Micro Simmons from me?
Next we’ll see someone trademark “bar of soap” surfboard. But I must admit, Bauguess was definitely very involved in re-creating the “mini” simmons style board. Then he had a parting with the Hydrodynamica crew. He must be pretty pissed off about that.
I guess it would be ok to call these square tiled fish since know one seems to know what a fish is anymore. I like seeing the pin tailed and round tailed fish. Maybe call it a full bodied spoon, or spoonless square tailed fish spoon.
