Mixing 2 types of resin

Does anyone know what would happen if I added a little bit of Gloss Coat/Finishing Resin/250B to laminating resin/249B?

Would that be the same or nearly the same as adding the wax to laminating resin to make a hot coat/sanding resin?

Has anyone tried this with success and if so what mixture was used?

I’m asking because I’ve had the wax additive gel up and has been putting a lot of lumps in hot coats even after straining it. I was also able to get a REALLY good deal on some Gloss/250B.

might be okay for hot coats ,  but if to little wax of styrene overall in your combined mix , unsandable hotcoat will result, do a   test first then scale it up , expect your gel times to be slower the more finsh coat used  ,finsh coat does not have a lot wax in it to start so you do not have thick wax bloom to try to polish…

if just boards for yourself  fine

,wax of styrene can be fixed  by standing container  in a  bath" of hotwater…sometimes have to do this on cold morning…

I often mix a 1 to 3 ratio of lam and gloss resin but I always add surfacing agent to the lam resin stir it well before adding the gloss resin to it.

Good results.

I wouldn’t try to add pure lam resin to gloss resin, you may end up with a tacky result as you may not have enough wax in your mix…

Another story ,I have made finsh coat resin  from laminate that was quite good, just got to get wax of styrene ,styrene levels good…so it flows  on nice and settles   and does not have to much wax, which gives you dull shine in your polish, got to watch your hardner levels so you don t set it off too hot  so it settles flat,
