Several weeks ago I posted a picture and some notes to the “Resource” section. The picture was poor and I wanted to update the comments. I entered the “user Id” and “password”. This opened a page with a number of required fields which were already filled in. Curiously the password was different on this page. I changed this to my usual password. Next I entered an update to the comments section and a new picture and clicked “modify”. A message appeared rejecting the picture-I had sent the wrong version of the picture. I logged on again to submit the correct picture but this time I received an error message indicating I should try again later because an order to modify had already been submitted. Later I tried to post the new picture again-same message. I tried using both my password and the password appearing on the “required fields” page-same message. Today, I noticed that when you open the resource from the “Welcome” page there is no updated comment or picture. When I enter the “Modify” page there is no copy of the updated comment and I still get the same error message when I try to submit the new picture. I understand that pages are only updated weekly but I am not sure why the original picture was deleted or where the updated comment disappeared to from the modify page. Can someone explain how I screwed up and what I can do about it? Thank you for your time and assistance. Patrick
Hey Patrick - I had a similar glitch a while back, I posted originally 3 pictures but one was fuzzy; when I tried to modify to a better version the old picture disappeared for a while. Basically the resources are set up so that Mike has to verify whats going to appear, and that takes some time. So I’m not sure you did anything wrong… although why the modified comments didn’t “take” I’m not sure. And I think Mike is working on a unified password system, so that the passwords used for posting resources synchronize with those used to log in (assuming that you didn’t use the same password for both things in the first place). So that too may not be anything you’ve done wrong. If I were you I’d just send mike a PM and ask him if there’s anything else you need to do to get your modification in place…
Patrick,
Hey dude. Sorry about the weird effects – this is a bug in the system.
I’m updating the resources now so your changes should take effect today.
Regarding Keith’s point about the username/ password thing…currently the resources/discussion & classifieds are all on different systems thus you must register seperately for each one. I’m currently working on bringing all the systems under one username/password/userprofile scheme. It’s a ton of work but ultimately things will be much more streamlined.
Stay tuned.
Thanks,
mike
Keith and Mike: Thank you for your kind explanations and patience. It must be an extreme pain in the posterior to be constantly having to undo the screw-ups of computer illerates such as myself. However, I believe many are very appreciative of the efforts. Take care. Patrick
Mike,
I forgot to add in my board specs and want to modify my resource - when I pull it up to modify, no info shows up in the pictures section (where you browse to your local pics & select). If I add in the board specs/dimensions do I have to also “reattach” my pictures too?
I searched the archives & didn’t see an answer.
thanks,
jay
Actually, if I’m not mistaken, if you are NOT planning on modifying your images, just leave the image upload form fields empty.

Ok - I’ll be the “crash test dummy” & give it a go!
Thanks for the response Mike.
It worked! I didn’t lose the pictures.
I did find a “bug” though - if I entered my dimensions as follows:
6’ 10" x 18.75 x 22.25 x 12.75 x 2.75
and saved it, then pulled the resource up again to modify it, the dimensions show up as:
6’ 10
There is something about the " that causes the program to lose the trailing info.
As a programmer I find that interesting!
Thanks again Mike!
