molded surfboard case...

I am trying to find out the name of a company or manufacturer who have produced a hard-cover molded surfboard bag/case. There was photo of it in a recent issue of “Longboards”, but I can’t remember who the company was. Can anyone help? Or does anyone have any other info on related products. Thanks

cheers. thanks for that.

litttleone,

I’ve used a two board Santa Monica Surf Case for three trips to the islands in recent years, and the performance was outstanding. It is a superior product! You can’t go wrong.

Thanks Bill. I am actually not interested in buying one, I’m looking at them for some research I’m doing. What are they like on the inside? Do two boards fits snug inside or do they wobble around? If you could tell me anything else about them, that’d be great! (any features, etc.) What made you buy one of these as opposed to a soft case?

I need to get a 10-4 to oahu in the next couple weeks. Anyone want to rent one of those hard cases in the Los Angeles area?

Roger

I just shipped a board using a Clark Foam Blank Box.I bubble wrapped it and slid in some cheap styro foam panels in for good measure.Cheap and reusable. RB

I have a Santa Monica Surfcase, I’ve used it for several trips over the years and always with good results. It’s bulky and heavy, and you have to deal with storing it once you get to your destination, but it’s pretty much guaranteed good protection. As a bonus, it’s usually too much of a pain to open up so airline reps usually won’t bother getting in there to count the boards inside. I can ship a 6’6, 7’4, and 8’0 inside of mine and have room left over inside for wetsuits, etc. The interior is padded with 1/4" open-cell foam, there are wheels built in, and the case material itself is kind of a tough, soft plastic. It’s not as rigid as I expected, but still seems to do the job.

Thanks, that’s really helpful. Anyone else have any experiences using the santa monica surfcase or similar product?

There is some great info on that site: http://www.surfcase.com/airlinefees.html

Good to know what airlines to support!
