most important surf trip item

Hey Ambrose, I thought about mentioning the ding repair stuff but remember reading recently that “the Man” has issues now with things like that on commercial airplanes… if you’re going anywhere with a surf shop it’s better to just buy one when you get there, I suspect.

PS One other thing you need to bring on a surf trip: a good attitude…

and common sense.

leave behind… bad vibes

take …stoke . The more of that you bring , the better !

.... surfboard and wax. [why do people always forget their wax ?]

yeah, i am bringin the pretty much bare minimum for clothing. lots of boardies and t shirts. my girlfriend is the opposite. i think i may take out some of her stuff before we leave. but then i am taking my life in my own hands, i dont want to ruin my vacation before it even starts.

this trip we arent that far out of society so its going to be a lot easier.

i just checked long range wave forecasts and it looks like i should be getting some double over head.

Bringing the gf is a move, otherwise frustration will make your life difficult. Trust me on this one, spend long enough away from home and anything looks good.

My travel lists are for somewhat longer trips, like a month or more to quite isolated places, but they might give ya some ideas.

Though both lists are a little dated. Let me update and emphasize a little.

I tend to bring a suture kit too, with local anesthetic…that’s real nice when you want to do a thorough job of cleaning out a cut before sewing it up, and heaven help ya if you’re in the tropics and suture a wound with something nasty in there.

These days, unless I was planning on doing a lot of diving or water shots, I’d substitute a low-to-medium quality digital camera for the Nikonos listed. The waterproof Fujis do an ok job with water shots and film. I travel with a laptop, generally, so I don’t need a giant size chip on the digital camera. Low-to-medium quality so that if somebody snatches it you won’t do anything stupid to try and get it back, you just let it go.

Mask, fins and snorkel, or you’ll curse yourself. Fish in the tropics are amazing.

Mini-mag lite flashlight, with spare batteries and spare bulb or two. With a lanyard for around your neck, the lifeguard whistle type work well and also make a quick and dirty head mount so you can carry stuff in the dark.

Water bottle - the water where you’re staying may be fine, but elsewhere? Take along water, maybe with some gatorade powder.

anyhow, that might give ya a few ideas.

hope that’s of use

doc…

bug spray a small tube of solarez never hurts as does an extra leash

yeah i always try and travel light but smart i really should invest in a half way decent first aid kit. usually i pack some band aids and some hydrogen peroxide. in retrospect having such a limited supply is kind of stupid.

i am defiently bringin my fishin pole and my snorkel gear.

6’10" perfect shape, never ridden, hard tail, never ending supply of cash, totally faithful to me and me only, maybe a little nympho, legal age.

???

Gosh I am sorry I just woke up from a dream and saw this post. I thought it read " Most wished important surf trip item"

If you are prone to rashes – nut rash, pit rash, etc its always good to bring vasoline. keeps that tropical rot away!! also Tums for the rot gut. U.V. cure ding stuff in the tube is great!! I need to get a trip going!!!

6’10’'???

What a beast!

the so-rez I bought in sept made it home noprob.I think the uv-toothpaste is inert-benine enough ? no man ,probs / lucky or ok by homeland desparity?..ambrose…

Board, leash, fins and spairs. Unless you intend to buy when you get there.

Iodine spray, Ibuprofen, surgical tape. If that doesn’t sort you out see a doctor.

Parcel tape, duck tape, some strong string. Fix most things with these.

A pen.

An open mind and respect for the locals, whether they surf or not.

I second that. I went on a surftrip to the canaries but for a dessert island with very little water. I have never seen such mean mosquitos. They ate me up the hole night in 30 degree heat makes it even more unbarable.

Never leave home without one.

Swiss Champ.

Take only one leash. If it breaks it’ll do your surfing some good.

Coque , my dream. I wanted a girl I could go up on.
