Moving the center point

I have heard so many different reasons why moving the center forward or backwards is beneficial and would like to know everyones take on this. I know some shapers are moving them forward to aid in noseriding, but I have also heard to, “cheat the apex of the rocker back with the hips behind center” to aid in noseriding. Reasoning behind your theory and personal preference greatly welcome.

"Moving the center forward or back?  "

Maybe you mean wide point?

^^^

This is something I am interested on but what I have heard is wide point behind center = tighter turns above = longer carried out turns

my boards all have the center right in the middle, its just something that I do

I’m a little heavier than the average surfer and moving the wide point aft to a “piggish” outline makes it easier to turn from the center of the board. Sinking the rail rather than pivoting. It works for front footers.

I can see 3 possible definitions of center:

Length – the point along the length where the front section has the same length as the rear section.

Area – the dividing line where area of the front section equals the area of the rear section.

Volume – the dividing line where volume of the front section equals volume of the rear section.

Widepoint can lie almost anywhere along the length.

For a symmetrical outline (ellipse), the location of widepoint, length center and area center are in the same place.

Just sayin’
