My board is turning yellow and I want to paint it.

So I purchased a Rusty Toad (EPS) about 3 months ago and it is turning extremely yellow.  I’m not too worried about the functionality of the board but I love my boards and I’m sad every time I look at it.  It’s like a new car or motorcycle.  I enjoy looking at them as much as I love using them.  Is there anything that I can do about it?  I’ve tried painting (sand, paint, and clear coat) a board on top of the glass before and it didn’t work out so well.  The clear coat was extremely soft and it all just fell apart.  I’m also concerned about adding unnecessary weight to the board.

I’ve seen some posts about the Future acrylic stuff.  Can I paint a board and use that to seal it?   Does it really work?  I don’t have any airbrush tools so I was considering some high quality spray paint and then rubbing on the acrylic stuff and sanding.  Also, can something like this be done professionally?  I live in North County SD.  Any recommendations?

Thanks for any help.

Hwozit csarqui,Did you use epoxy paint in a spray can? Aloha,Kokua

Sadly, I’m not sure.  It was the Rustoleum product that you can buy at Home Depot.  I also tried out the Surftech spray paint.  I could scrath either one off with a finger nail.

Howzit csarqui, When it comes to painting on some surfaces no matter what kind of paint you use can be scratched off with your finger nail. I mentioned epoxy paint since it might work better but it might just scratch off also.Aloha,Kokua
