MY FIRST BOARD, NEED TIPS!!!

i’m a newbie in shaping boards, i don’t know a whole lot, i have gotten a couple tips from my friend who shapes, but i’m still in the rocks. i have a 6’7" blank, and i’m trying to make a simple 6’4" thruster. 11 3/4, 19 3/4, 12, 2.4 width, using futures fin system and box, thinkin if i should go round pin, or squash or even square (prolly round pin), no concaves (since its my first board) a lot of edge on the tail, low rails…what can i be expecting and what do i need to prep before the actual shaping takes place, what do i need, any tips in shapin the board??? what other measurements do I NEED TO MAKE for the board??? i just need all the input, i realize this is too broad and i should be more specific, but i am a newbie in shaping so i just need pointers, and once i go into it and find a problem, i’ll ask away in the forum, any TIPS would be kind enough, i got supplies which consist of:

Y2K UV LAM RESIN, Surfacing agent, fin box, plug, gonna borrow my friend’s tools, which are (what are some awesome sander, i’m gonna be stickin with this and i want to invest on tools that i would need) sander and i think a router, a roll of fiberglass cloth

thanks

ooops, sorry bout the dimensions, its actually:

6’4"

12, 18 3/4, 14

2 3/7

Uhhh

To broad and vague my brother!!!

Here’s a few tips.

Patience. Have it. Excercise it liberally.

It helps t have a board similiar to the one you’ll be shaping handy to use as reference.

Have at it man…

Surfgun,

Might I recommend you troll around the archives for a day or so first. I’ve only been on this site a few years now and we have brought up every aspect of making a surfboard 30+ times. You’ll find everything you need to know and then some. Once you have done the time, then if you have a really specific question, it will be really easy to answer.

It’s all in the archives weedhopper.
