My hollow is finished!

After several months of work, I have finally completed my first board. It’s 7’6" hollow wooden single fin. Rode it for the first time on friday and am very happy with it. Glassy, shoulder high, somewhat mushy swell coming off of Jeanne. The board is heavy–momentum! It pushes through and around sections like nothing I’ve ever ridden before. Thanks Paul Jensen and everyone here at Swaylocks!

Totally chuffed for you. Gorgeous looking board too, how come I’ve not seen any pics of that until now? How about a shot of the beast in action.

Well done that man!!! That is a lovely looking board. What sort of weight did it end up being?

Now what are you going to do with your spare time…

I can feel another one coming on…

Yes we need to see some piccies of it in action. If I’ve got to drag my wife to the beach to take piccies the least you can do is the same.

Congrats

beautiful board, as all i’ve seen in this forum, mine included ;). did you use the jensen’s method or improved your own building procedure? what is the final weight and what kind of wood-resin-glass did you use? what was the total building time? i spent over 4 months in mine working 7-8 hours a day (stubborn glass) in the final stages.Jack.

I did use Jensen’s method (for the most part). I haven’t weighed it, but it is significantly heavier than my 9’8" yater spoon (classic weight foam and volan). For all of the interior, I used 1/8" lauan…carbon fiber on stringer and inside of skins. Skins are red cedar and basswood. Rails are cork and lauan. If I come about a good way of weighing it, I’ll post the final weight…as well as the requested action pics.

Nice work, she’s a beaut…what’d ya think of the difference in energy transference, from that of a foam? Congrats on a fine plank _ Glenn
