I finally got around to finishing off a board that I’ve slowly been working on for myself for the last few weeks, i couldn’t be happier now that she’ll be done for the next pulse that comes through!
anyways, I used the template from my favorite board of all time (my old magic 6’5 hull), stretched it to 6’8 and pulled the nose and tail just at tiny bit in. I wanted to use the paulownia rails that ive been experimenting with for the last year or so on it, you can juuuust barely see them in the pics.
I added a deep fishy crack to keep the rail line long; a bit more rocker in the tail end, and put in a funky hull/deep single/narrow double concave bottom…basically i tried to spruce up my old board without completely violating the shape!
so here she is shaped, ill get some glassed photos tomorrow
hull deck:
She’s going to be a singlefin (hull placement) for now, but ill put in lokboxes in for keels soon…im just too antsy to surf it and ive been on a serious singlefin trip lately!
Seriously sic lines on the hull, very nice. I really like the artwork on the deck sometimes simple is harder to pull off well and not look unfinished, but I think you did it quite well. Take it out to rivermouth this week it will be sick.
im looking for a bit more rail to rail action but simple, clean flow and trim on a nice section when i find it; report will be on friday, she was finished today with a new fin that was cut out of the first fin I ever layed up (im in a recycling mode lately!)
the drawing started small and got more intense as i wasted more time; i used to draw that in school on all my books and notes (maybe there was more drawing than note taking…), im pretty happy with it, here are the finished piccys:
glassing is 6oz deck and 4oz bottom, i used Ice9 foam and only ever put one layer of 6 on the deck of my boards, i cant even put a serious pressure dent in this foam, even when i was 215lbs!
