my next board (#2)

Hello, i’m thinking to my next board, wich will be my “teaching” board, i’ve done a couple of plans using aps3000 but i really need your help, so if you can kindly take a look to the two printouts and tell me what needs to be modified i’ll really appreciate it, keep in mind that i’m almost completely newbye at surfing.

i’m 5.8" and 130lbs (60kg)

How does rocker influence the board feeling?

Where can i find more infos about rocker measures and local wave relationship?

I really like 7.6clss but will that outline be good for me? or is it better the 7.6minilong?

Thanks Flavio

the 7.6clss looks to me like the there is a lot of mass/volume in the front half of the board. I like the mini-log butt then again I’m a longboarder.

Both nice nice tmplates. Confused about what you mean by teaching board. Meaning that you will teach other people to surf on it, or further your own surfing?

The 7.6clss is basically a bigger modern version of the 70’s single fins…and the weight in the front is where it should be. This type of board is not exactly the most adaptable board for a variety of conditions…requires a hollower wave and needs a littel juice to get moving. This board would be more of a performance board if that is what you are after.

The mini-log is very neutral and will work in all conditions, though it will not have the speed of the other, it can adapt to mushier, smaller waves much better. Also if you are teaching, then this nis the board that would be better suited.

ROCKER, so many variables but heres a very rough rule of thumb.

FLATTER = faster, down the line speed, will not turn as easy.

CURVIER = slower, but turns better.

Waht would help is a brief description of the waves that you would be surfing on. that would go a long way as to determining.

oh yeah the other comment I had (I don’t have much experiance with rocker) was that the rocker looked like the nose entry was prety rushed. I’d blend it more to the middle of the board instead of having such a large flat area.

Thank you guys, teaching board cause i’m new to surfing, i can barely stand up on my first board which is a 6.5" so i need something bigger and more stable, so i can catch smaller waves.

I’ve tried to modify the rocker of minilong as 4Est suggested, hope i’ve understand you…tell me if not.

The waves near me?

For the rails do you suggest me a 50/50 or can i go for something harder like 60/40 or even more?

Clss yesss that’s a copy of '70s board, i’m fascinated by those boards, i’ll shurely shape one of those when i’ll be able to ride it.

Cheers Flavio

well designed, Flavio. would like to get the .brd file to have a closer look at the design. could you e-mail it to me??

Here it is…

Cheers flavio

nice shape Flavio, love it. I would change the decksline as it showed a quite technical S-deck, not necessarily wanted in a minimal. just open your board, open mine as a ghost and when you want to see the points and tangents of the ghost board, just press -g-.

the board has very good volume equal to 157 beers, with a nice deckscurve. certainly worth shaping.

have fun

Hey Miki thanks for the suggestions, i cann’t see your modifications…forgot to attach the file?

another try, forgot to press the button…

I got it, thank you very much

How does the print one slice per page function work?

Now it’s time to collect material for the blank.

Cheers flavio

should be easy, go to file-print and you will find it.

have fun
