Im sorry to not have the wide surfing knowledge that most have. I just got into surfing like 4 years ago and instead of reading spent most of my time leaning to get up and stay up on a board. after like 3 years of that, I decided to branch out and i watched a few shapers and finally I made my own board a few weeks ago. I am watching alot of surfing movies/documentaries but there are only so many hours in the day. Thanks for your concern though. maybe I can try to get Greg Noll to sign the pic I have now on the opposite side from John’s
hi there “young Scotty” …
methinks “old guy Ambrose” may have been using that rare commodity …humour …
…"old guy ben "
I realized that after about an hour and then I felt kinda dumb. so I watched “riding giants” to catch myself up a little on big wave surf history.
Hi All ‘y’ all,
Louisiana is cool. Okalhoma, never been there, Texas, very marriable chicks, be careful, anyway…I’m a “newbie” but I don’t think you have to say “I’m sorry.” “Thanks for your patience,” works for me.
Surf history is cool. Swaylock search for “Murph the Surf” . He’s the Wayne Gretsky of surf history, the “Great One.” My research tells me Murph is from Arcadia, specifically 317 Norman Ave. That’s near El Monte (the home of Ruben & the Jets, the favorite band of da Cat), near Eagle Rock…check out Los Lobos, they are definetly my favorite live surf band…the Duotones rock also. Greg Noll definitely has a great swimming suit.
Scott,
Either you’re putting one over on this board or you’ve really got something. If that’s original, too bad it’s not dated, it is a piece of surf history.
Don’t “hang on to it and wait until he can’t sign anymore”. Contact some people who know how to protect rare photos. Try to get some advice from a local gallery. Contact a curator at a good sized museum. Search the internet on how to handle it. Nobody here is an expert in protecting rare photos. Find out from people who specialize in that. Then keep it someplace secure until you find out the real value.
It may turn out that it’s one of many that were sold back then but it’s sure to be worth way more than a reproduction from a website.
Good luck.
Re: he eventually bought the place and raised a family of seventeen kids at the carwash"
A blast from the past. I’m sure it’s a surfing song.
Ooh ooh
You might not ever get rich
But let me tell ya it’s better than diggin’ a ditch
There ain’t no tellin’ who you might meet
A movie star or maybe even an Indian chief
(Workin’)
At the car wash
Workin’ at the car wash, girl
Come on and sing it with me
(Car wash)
Sing it with the feelin’ ya’all
(Car wash, girl)
Ooh!
Some of the work gets kinda hard
This ain’t no place to be if you planned on bein’ a star
Let me tell you it’s always cool
And the boss don’t mind sometimes if you act the fool
At the car wash
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Talkin’ about the car wash, girl
Come on, ya’all and sing it for me
(Car wash)
Oooh oooh oooh
(Car wash, girl)
(Work and work)
Well, those cars never seem to stop coming
(Work and work)
Keep those rags and machines humming
(Work and work)
My fingers to the bone
(Work)
Can’t wait till it’s time to go home (?)
(Hey, get your car washed today)
Fill up and you don’t have to pay
Come on and give us a play
(Do the wash, right away)
(The car wash)
Talkin’ 'bout the car wash
Car wash, girl
Come on, ya’all, let’s sing it with me
(Car wash)
Sing it with feelin’, ya’all
(Car wash, girl)
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
(Car wash)
Never seem to stop comin’
What’d I say
Keep those rags and machines hummin’
(Car wash)
Let me tell you, it’s always cool . . .
