If I was to shape a board that paddles very well, catches waves effortlessly but can still do a nice round house cutback ride in the pocket, and turn relatively easy, what would I get? Im 165lbs 6’0" tall and am curently riding shortboards,6’6" x19 to be exact.I really like the feeling of the center sweetspot on those old boards where you can ride more towards the center of the board keeping the feet close together, riding off the front foot, and turning off the rails. Most of all I miss the ease of paddling out and catching waves.I’m thinking egg or double ender? What kind of rails and rocker? Maybe 6’10" x 20" x 2.5? What do you think? Center point ?
single fin or tri?
Sounds like a single fin or an 80’s style thruster. Wider, more volume with down rails and a widepoint just forward of center. The deck should be relatively flat to carry out the volume all the way to the rails, which should be just shy of boxy. Long entry rocker to enhance paddling and wave catching, with a simple flat to v bottom to help out on rail-to-rail turns. Single fin with a long (10.5") box to increase your options.
