I’m in Utah but I get out surfing a few days a week. Yes here in Utah. We are wakesurfing on a regular basis. It’s a small, weak wave but it’s surfing nonetheless. I need some help locating some short surfboard blanks. Nearly all the boards made are not made by surfers so they are lacking. I’d like to get some blanks around 5’0" so I can put some ideas to the test. I haven’t been able to find any under 5’9". Any ideas?
FOr that matter you get buy a totally crappy used board and strip all the glass off it, cut it to size, reshape it and glass it from there. After seeing what Shipman did to that broken longboard, it opens up a whole other realm of possibilities.
Are you surfer small waves on a lake (Salt lake?) or surfing wakes off of a boat?
It’s wake surfing. Most tournament ski boats if weighted right can put a 2’- shoulder high wake(wave). I’ve ripped down a 6’3" that I had but the foam was all dinged up and the stringer split on me pulling a chunk with it. I’m working with it but It’d be nice to start with a blank slate.

I disagree. Surfing is 90% paddling, knowing ocean conditions, handling yourself in the impact zone, being able to read how waves will break, etc. All without your friends in a motorized boat nearby.
Thanks for the help. I’ll do that and let you know how it goes.
Why does the guy in Florida keep asking if I have a saw? I didn’t ask what his favorite tool was, I get it a saw. I guess I’ll tell his wife he needs/wants a saw for Christmas.

well…you said you can get a 5’9" blank. 5’9" blank - 3" sawed off the nose - 4" sawed off the tail = 5’0". assuming that you do in fact have a saw, i guess you must have misplaced your calculator. regardless, this is hardly rocket science. good luck with your new wakesurfer.
