Need some help with fine-tuning this already finished board

6ft5 * 20.5 * 2.5

flat bottom, round rails, sharp in tail, but quite the edge all around.

in small waves, the single is good fun

in shoulder high and above the board slides away on harder turns, evenwith the single pushed back a lot [as in pic]

i think the wide tail, comboed with a sharp edge, and pretty thick rails, is just not good for big carves

also…  i want to update the misplaced fusion boxes, so i am looking for some 2+1 information for this board please?

or maybe a 5-fin set-up anyone can help with?

thanks for the replies

EDIT: should have been 6ft5 * 22,05 * 2.5  with the tail width being: 16,15

cheers!

This board might turn better on a rail from the middle instead of stepping on the tail and pivoting. You might want to try moving the fin a little forward or maybe a shorter based fin. Try researching a widowmaker set up. The whole design to these types aren’t for quick turns as you well know.It should be able to make a nice drawn out turn. I’d try moving the fin around first and if that didn’t get it, another size could help. How does it go with the side bites?

Wouter,

How big a guy are you? Reason I ask is that I am a big guy and I have to put alot more fin in my boards than most guys would prescribe. I am 6' 250lbs and if I use a "normal" fin set up I always wash it out on a bottom turn. FIx the boxes and put full size low aspect ratio fins in the forward positions if you are a bigger guy and you will notice a huge difference. I almost dont think I could overfin a board. I have an egg that I like full keels + an 8.5" fins unlimited cutaway in. Way more fin than most guys can use. All my buddies think the board is a dog.

Disregard all the above info if you are of average size or if you just dont like it.

I'd say you should get some side-bites on there, around 12.5'' up, 1.375'' off rail, and toed 1/8''. Then you can use a narrower base single and adjust/play with fins until you find what works for you. Over 16'' tail is really wide for single fins, unless you do a whole different rail and rocker back there

I had the same problem with one of my boards.  What I did was put two fcs thruster fins I had laying around in the side boxes, and I made a center fin for the box.  The center fin I made was a bit bigger than a normal thruster center fin, but basically made the board a thruster with a larger center fin.  It worked great and I never had another problem in any size surf.  The good thing about this type of thruster set up is you can play with the center fin adjustment.  This may not be the solution you want, but it is another option.  Take care.

Cheers for all the replies,

i am going to install 2 pro-boxes i have left as the sidebites at 12,5 inches [thanks yet again MD] and play with it 2+1 and see if thuster set ups work too

kjl, i have one such centre fin too, so i will update.
