need some help

Hey there,

I have decided to start shaping. I hope some of you more knowledgleable could give me a hand.

First off, I am in Europe so I have to order Clark Foam. I haven’t found any polystyrene and epoxy suppliers (that have close tolerance blanks).

I was wondering what blanks I should order for the following;

5’7" x 21" x 2.5

-this will be a traditional fish shape, with a deep swallow, low rocker and two keels

-I will eventually need help with the following (please, pretty please?)…some suggestions as to what nose width (thinking 16") and tail width (around 15") as well where the wide point should be placed (I was thinking 3"s forward) as rocker nose and tail…and then fin placement.

2nd board: 5’8" x 20" x 2 3/8"

-this board will be my personalized version of a roundnose fish, meant for performance (airs and spins) in smaller surf.

-it’ll have 4"nose rocker, 2" tail, still thinking about the nose and tail widths and the fins will be FCS set-up for both MR twins or a set of g-5’s.

I have been balling with the numbers alot lately because I am used to the metric system and not feet and inches (I know feet and inches well when it comes to the shortboards I ride which stay around 6’0x 18 1/4" 2 3/16", but not anything as deviant as the aforementioned and how it affects anything.

Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated…Thanks!

SharkBoy,

6-2c might do it for both boards. Mike

yea i agree about that the 6 2 c how big are you? cuz a 5 8 fish is very very floaty, i am 120lbs and have no trouble on a 5 foot fish,

Thanks! I forgot to mention my size…I am 5’8" and around 160 /-, goofy and I consider myself a pretty decent surfer but I have never shaped a board, been planning to for ages now.

So a 6’2"C is the consensus? what does the C stand for? and on the foamez site it looked like a 6’0"R maybe would have done it…is it not enough foam?

thanks

what does the C stand for?

Usually, the initials following the length stand for the name of the guy who created the blank, in this case, I believe, Jim CALLAHAM.
