Go to a major international airport, hang around departures for Ireland, scope the crowds for a cool dude/dudette, offer them $$ to take the board as luggage and arrange a pick up at the other end…
Simple…
yeah - that could work!!! thanks
Unless big brother is watching…it’s a great idea. But don’t be surprised if people are suspicious.
yeah that is true too. it might take to much time too - to wait and find someone that will take the bag
I’m looking for a way to ship surfboards from USA to Europe at a reasonable cost, so i would be able to ship surfboards once or twice a year.
At this moment the best deal i found is DHL that quoted around 250.00 USD per board, but i know that i have a friend that ships surfboards from Hawaii to Spain at 100.00 per board (i think he ships 5 surfboards per box, so maybe it’s 500.00 USD per box).
By the way once here in Swaylocks a user called Nat, did me the great favor of bringing with him a surfboard so Spain for FREE (another reason to say Swaylocks sucks…). So maybe you’ll find someone to do the same.
If you find a good shipping method, please, let us know!
Coque.
Not sure if this is any use to you but you can catch a flight from Bristol airport to Belfast for as little as £4.99 + tax on easy jet. at that price you could pay for a friends trip if you haven’t got the time.
Maurice,
Try posting a message on the following Irish sites, somebody may be travelling from wherever you are based:
A couple years ago i got a board from Nev in Austraila and the board and shipping was $355 this is when the dollar was realy strong but they used TNT Shipping
Coque,
If you don’t need boards to get there straight away try shipping instead of air freight. If you have a lot of boards you might be able send a small container. You might be able to put a consortium together with other manufacturers. Boards in shops are $650+ plus here at the moment so make the most of the exchange rate.
Simon
Thanks Simon but i’d just ship ship 4 or 5 boards, no more (my pocket is limited) and all i find are companys that use the airplane method, so if you know of any companies that ship it through the ocean, this should keep the price lower.
Anyway, last time i made it work sending my boards inside a container with foam for an spanish shaper. I think this time it will work the same way BUT i don’t like being asking such a favor once ayear because the shaper doesn’t want to charge any money for that…
Thanks!

I don’t think that encouraging this sort of thing is wise in this day and age. Anyone with half a brain wouldn’t accept a package from a stranger.
Hey joshmosh,
Sorry I must have been suffering a flashback to a time when people helped each other out, accepted their differences and lived in harmony.
Live in hope, you might be surprised at what might happen…
