hey, anybody got any used tools theyd need to get rid of? Im in Eugene, Or, lookin for all the necessities. if not wheres the cheapest place to look? Thanks in advance. Stay stoked- Caleb
i bought a high quality, almost brand new planer on eBay for $75 (Dewalt DW680K - retails for $150). also, check pawn shops. they’re loaded with power tools (planers, sanders, etc.).
go to pawn shops or flea markets
Don’t need tools with Clark blanks, as they’re close enough alreaady.
Handtools don’t cost more than 35 bucks new.
Here’s whut I did…
P20SB Hitachi planer off E-bay, used for 25 plus shipping… filled groove, rounded edges, added 15ft cord. total cost $ 35 +or- $2.
Sanding screens are around a buck.
By the way… what tools do you need?
im new , so i need it all, sander, surform, plainer, calipers and anything else thats available…i could use a blank too if ya got one of those!
You might also try Harbor Freight in Eugene for the cheap stuff. They also have a throw away planer for not much money, I have no idea how it would work. Their other power tools mostly suck. Any autobody shop will have surform blades, hard plastic squeegees (you’ll be using epoxy, right?) and sanding screen.
Fiberglass Supply will ship stuff to you, and if you can pick it up at an Oak Harbor depot, that’ll save you 25 bucks for a box of blanks. Their website is a good resource for realizing what you need, just by flipping through the pages.
well, actually, im more experienced with resin and catalyst. Not with surfboards, but with fiberglass, was building radar domes down in florida. So that was the plan, why should i consider otherwise?
ok well, i meant polyester verus epoxy, im gonna be using a clark blank. Whats the best way to go?
