Neil Purchase 2+1 for your viewing pleasure

Seem some interest in 2+1 in other posts so sharing my new ride with you… a Neil Purchase Jnr 6-7 Schnub

No surf to test it yet but looks and feels superb.

I think the same shape as ridden in carve of the week and Believe dvd.

Hope I can do it justice!

Very nice!!

Can you provide some feedback on the fins - looks like maybe G-X up front and a 6.5 Bonzer fin in the back? If you could specify, would be very helpful, as I have a custom 2+1 speedster enroute that I will want to try some different fin combo’s on. And were the fins selected by Neil based on past testing?

thanks!

Soo-ay jung. Dae wa took kohn rue Muang Thai mai mee kuen yok wen dae Tsunami.

Well wear Siam, it looks a beauty, Having trawled the archives quite a bit for 2+1 info with limited success, I’d be really grateful if you could post the distance from the tail to the side fins, and a description of the bottom and rails, e.g. where they start to tuck and where they get hard.

Thanks in advance, hope you get waves soon for a test report.

The center fin should be one of John Harris wings.

Burnsie,

Looked in vain thru the internet for any info on John Harris Wings - do you happen to know any internet sources for same…?

cheers

Only through John here(sways), and he is pretty backed up I think. I imagine they are a bugger to sand

Sawatdee Khun Pla Muek,

Hi Lcc

The find are handmade fibreglass with fcs and box fittings which I assume are Neil’s own design

Side fins are 10.5 cm x 10.5cm Centre fin is 13cm base 15.5cm high

Sawatdee Khun Siam,

Mar gohn pom yoo tee Muang thai tang mot sip et bpee.

Pom me punrayah bpen kohn Thai gup look sao song khon.

Koi yoo tee Phuket, pror cha nan len kuen tee Kata Noi gup Kata Yai boy boy.

Bugger this, I can’t be bothered trying to write Thai phonetically.

Do you happen to know John who manages the Rip Curl factory up North? He’s my best mate over there.

Siam,

thanks for the info. Sweet fin set-up - closest I could find to those dimensions in production fins would be FCS GX fronts, and a 6.25 Rusty Flex in the back…

One last question - rear fin more on the flexy side, or stiff side?

thanks…

Nice… love NP’s designs - both Sr and Jr

Here’s a fish shaped by NP Sr. that I rode all Summer a few years back - great board

  • 5’10" - 21" - 2 and 5/8"

  • Fish keels are 7" base, 5.5" high

As I understand it, NP Sr. was shaping these boards (Stringerless fishes based on a Skip Frye style) for NP Jr. around the time of the filming of the “Glass Love” sequences NP Jr. was in… loved that movie and subsequently loved this board - so much fun.

ben

Sorry if its a dumb question, but where do you get those boards from?? Is there a website??

http://www.sixounceboardstore.com.au in Bondi

Ha ha Beerfan… An Ozzie asking a Pom living in Asia where to buy an Ozzie made board!!

As Burnise post above I got mine from Ben at Six Ounce in Bondi… a great guy to deal with and well connected with so many great shapers…value for money too.

Burnsie . Lcc will answer as soon as get home and can check

Thanks mate, i googled neal purchase surfboards, but didn;t see a website. Funny world we live in hey??. I checked out the six oz site, and saw your board. Well, unless someone else who lives in thailand ordered a 6’7’’ custom NP board haha.

Lcc - all fins stiff with a bit of flex at tip if compare to FCS M stiffer, if compare to Rainbow diallers more flex at tip.

Burnsie - Side fins trailing edge 23 cm fto back of centre box, 30cm from tail, 35cm from centre of tail at stringer 3cm from rail.

Bottom shallow single to deeper double concave

Rail tuck starts 1/2 way and edge goes hard about 25cm up from side fins

its 6-7 x 20.25 x 2.75. I ordered as a good wave board and for travelling…ride quad fish in every day surf

Hope this helps…Bear in mind I am a surfer with an interest in design not a shaper…

Now I just need some decent surf so I can ride the thing instead of talking about it.
