Well I finally got my Campbell Bros Bumblebee, and unfortunatley the shipping co. punctured the box with soethinga nd dinged the beatiful new deck right on the stringer. My question is, whats the best way to seal a fractured ding like this, I cant see the cracks in the surface but they must be theer and I am worried about water wicking into the board and stringer. Should I just put a small patch of glass coat over this and leave it? Its on the deck which will be waxed, which helps as it wont be visible.
I’d sand it down to the weave, patch with at least one layer, hotcoat, and sand. Along the stringer is where the glass takes a beating, so you want to give it some beef.
Yeah - if you sand it down enough, add a dab of styrene and slap some cloth over it before sanding, glossing and buffing, it likely could be made to be invisible.
What they said…
Thanks for the tips, hopefully I can make it disappear or close to dissappear. Nothing wore than buying and expensive board and then have some shipper (whos paid alot for carrying this box) pokes something through the board and scars it. The one good thing is the location wont be noticable on the deck.
