New Board Finished

Finished up a new “pelican” simmons for my friend Jim. 9’3" X 24.5" X 3.75". All epoxy resin color and pin lines with a double HD foam stringers. Foam and glass keels with a stinger. Jim is about 6’1- 250 and took it out the other day and had a good time. I was a little suprised he was able to nose ride the board.

I might not be able to respond becuase I don’t have the points I need yet. Working on it

In responce to the stringers I cut the blank and stringers with the same rocker template and glue them together with white tinted resin.

Very nice! That’s a bit different from the standard longboard shape, is this a model you’ve built before? I’m not familiar with the term Pelican Simmons.

Nice looking board Watch! Did you do anything special with the blue XPS for better bonding?

+1 as OP seems a little light on points.

Nice!

Hurray I have points! Thank you everyone for the nice comments. Huck I just named that board the “pelican” becuase it would just glide over the waves like a pelican. I am not the first one to use the phrase.

nice looking board… how did you get that nice shine with Epoxy?

Nice! Very Joe Aaron.

Thanks Salty, I finished the board with a clear coat, wet sand to 2000 and polish.

when you say clear coat, did you add another “thin” hotcoat?

I use a urethane clear coat that I get from Napa Auto Parts.

Interesting Longboard shape.  Good use of Automotive clear coat.  Lowel
